When I first started to create this blog post, I had the intention of compiling a short summary of a few ‘pretty’ pictures taken throughout 2013, but as I sifted through the archives, I got a little nostalgic……..and then quite simply, more than a little carried away. Below is an eclectic mix of all the weird, wonderful, traditional and beautiful weddings, people and locations I had the pleasure of photographing last year, shot on an array of formats including film with a few scenery shots taken from my iPhone thrown in for good measure.
I started 2013 with a list of personal and professional goals and I am very lucky to say, that I have fulfilled most of them…so as I sit here planning my new year on the first day of 2014, I thought I would put a couple of my new goals out in to the universe:
1. I have shot weddings all over Australia, but am yet to shoot in South Australia and Tasmania – I would like to add weddings in these states to my wish list.
2. I was invited to photograph 2 weddings this past year in New Zealand…and I think I am addicted. I would love to go back and this time to the South Island…..winter wedding anyone?
3. To shoot a wedding in a tropical location….Fiji, Bali, Thailand??? Or better still how about Cambodia or Vietnam??
4. To photograph a wedding entirely on film: for the past year now I have been shooting a mix of digital and film at most weddings and I am looking forward to shooting a 100% film wedding – keep an eye out for a personal project about to launch dedicated to my film photography.
2013 was such an epic year and I couldn’t have pulled it off without some very lovely people shooting for or alongside me: Susan, Ari, Jacob, Liv, Sarah, Rose, Antony, Kate and Greg – thank you so much for your time and talent! I hope you all enjoy viewing these, as much as we enjoyed taking them!
As I am now wrapping up the last of weddings and albums for the year, I will be embarking on a little time off before kicking off the new year in a big way – photographing my brother’s wedding to the stunning Arisa in Hokkaido, Japan.
Here’s to a 2014 full of adventure!
